March experience, lessons and things I loved
Happy Easter! I hope you are enjoying the holidays and still taking care of yourself. It can be so stressful with family obligations; you may experience the feeling that you need to be the ‘perfect parent’ to give your child a fantastic holiday. Make sure you listen to your body and don’t push your boundaries. If you are happy, your child will be too.

I want to give you a look at my life with mental illness. I started blogging at the beginning of February. It first started as an outlet for me. I was completely stuck in my head feeling sorry for myself, and I had to do something to make it stop, so I wrote this article on being in a relationship with a narcissist. I shared it with a few people, and as it turned out, one of them was in a similar situation. After she read my article, she decided to break up with the narcissist, and she took her life back. It made me realize that my life experiences can help other people.
The month didn’t start out too well, I started having pain in my throat at the beginning of March, and two days later I had the flu. I stayed in bed most of March, but I still managed to get things done, so that made me quite proud.
Being sick is a little hard for me. When I was a child, I nearly died from a virus, so whenever I get a fever, I’m worried. After four weeks of flu, I decided to call a doctor, and she told me to come in right away. Somehow this freaked me out even more, and I went full on survival mode. I completely froze and couldn’t move anymore. Thankfully I have the sweetest neighbors that brought me to the doctor. The doctor reassured me that It was just the flu and it would take me a little longer to recover because of my fibromyalgia.
At first, I was a little annoyed with myself. I had a panic attack, and I had to ask the neighbors for help. But instead of seeing it as failing, I decided to be proud of myself. This was the only panic attack I had this month, which is way better than the 10 I used to have daily.
Things I loved this month
Fresh mint tea
I drank so much mint tea this month. It works wonders for headaches and nausea, so it’s great for when you feel sick. It also tastes amazing. I tried growing a mint plant but it was a disaster, so now I’m just buying fresh mint from the supermarket. Making fresh mint tea is easy. Just put a few leaves in a tea-cup and pour hot water over the leaves. You can add some honey if you like, but it’s not necessary.
I can’t express to you how much I love lavender. It’s the one thing that always calms me down. I take a lot of baths; it helps with de-stressing and the pain from my fibromyalgia. This month I’ve been taking more baths than usual (no worries, I live in an energy-friendly house, warm water comes from under the ground and energy from the sun!). I love trying new bath products, but one that I always keep buying is the lavender milk from Weleda. It’s a very soothing scent, and you can take at least 6-8 baths with one bottle.
My heated plushies
I shared them in my article about tips for mental illness, but I want to share them again! They are the best. You put them in the microwave for 1.30 minutes, and you have yourself a heating pad in the form of a cuddly friend. I use them when I’m cold or in pain. They have a lavender scent, so they are also calming. You might be thinking ‘Hell I’m not a kid,’ and I can’t blame you, but they are so worth it!
I love browsing the internet looking for beautiful things and share them with others. I recently signed-up for several affiliate sites, and I figured if I’m going to find and share beautiful things, I might as well earn a little money so that I can run my site without annoying ads. Someone told me about this program called Tailwind, and it helps you schedule pins, It’s absolutely the best investment I made. You can save things right from your browser and tell tailwind when it should be pinned. If you love Pinterest as much as I do, check it out. Another scent I love, mainly when I’m sick. It’s a very fresh scent that helps you breathe easier. I use this in combination with my diffuser. I add two drops in a little bit of water, and my home smells fantastic and fresh.
Burt’s beeswax 100% natural moisturizing lip balm
Do you have these dry, chapped lips in the winter? I DO! and it sucks. I’ve tried so many lip balms through the years, and these are one of the best I’ve found thus far. It’s not only perfect for dry, chapped lips but also for your elbows and other dry spots, and oh for under your nose when it’s all sore from blowing your nose.
Things I learned this month
Don’t be afraid or embarrassed to ask for help; people want to help you.
The flu can last for 3 + weeks, and even after the virus is gone, you can feel exhausted for weeks.
Vitamins can help you feel better. I like the ones from BrainMD. If you are not sure if you should take extra vitamins you can talk to your general practitioner or a dietician.
Go outside and make sure you get plenty of fresh air, even if you don’t feel good.
I’m healthy and strong and I can accomplish anything that I put my mind to.
I hope you had a great month and I wish you happy holidays filled with love and joy!
